Registering with the Uganda Electronic Single Window (UeSW) is needed to obtain certificates of origin and other required permits for trade and to ensure these are transmitted to customs at the time of clearance.
Once a trader has registered with the Uganda Electronic Single Window, they must register as an exporter in the system.
A trader wishing to export coffee is required to have a coffee export license which is issued annually by the Ministry of Agriculture,Animal Industry and Fisheries department of Coffee Development.
All facilities where grading and color sorting of coffee for export are carried out are inspected, registered and regulated by theMinistry of Agriculture,Animal Industry and Fisheries department of Coffee Development.
The Quality mark is a Third Party Guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products to the consumers and an assurance of conformity to relevant standards. The Quality Mark is issued by Uganda National Bureau of Standards and applies to all processed products and certain crops such as Maize. The Quality Mark should be visible on the product.
All exporters of coffee are required to obtain a quality certificate for each consignment to confirm that the coffee is of good quality and meets International standard requirements. These are issued by Ministry of Agriculture - Coffee department.
